Winches + Winch Line

A winch is the last resort, not the first — but when nothing else will do, nothing else will do. Buy one rated for about 1.5 times your vehicle's loaded weight: a 6,000 lb truck wants a 9,000 to 12,000 lb winch. Synthetic line is now the standard — lighter than steel cable, it stores far less energy, and it falls to the ground if it parts.

We carry ARB and Carbon Offroad winches, winch line and extensions from Yankum Ropes, fairleads from Agency6, and the Deadman ground anchor for when there is no tree. The line is the part people under-buy: rate it to roughly twice the winch capacity, and your shackles and tree saver to four times, so if something gives, the winch stalls before your gear breaks.
