Synthetic winch line drops instead of whipping back if it fails under load, which is the whole reason to delete steel from a winch system. This is the 7/16" x 75' extension, made from coated HMPE, so you can add reach without piling extra line on your drum.
Too much line on a drum lets the wraps pinch down and pull under one another, which reduces your effective strength. Keep a sensible working length on the winch, then clip in the extension when a recovery needs more distance.

Size to the recovery vehicle
Match the line to your winch's rated pull and the rig doing the recovery, not the one you are pulling out. The 7/16" suits the heavier winches found on full-size trucks.
Safety
Run the line through a hawse or roller fairlead, lay a dampener over it during a pull, and inspect for cut or fuzzed fiber before each use. Keep clear of the line of pull.
