Yankum Ropes
Winch Line
Choose options
Replace the steel cable and lose the metal whip. The Yankum synthetic winch line is made from HMPE fiber: strong as an ox, and if it ever fails it drops instead of snapping back like a steel cable under tension. It sheds weight off the front of the truck and is far kinder to your hands. A chafe sleeve is included to protect the line where it runs over abrasive obstacles.
Pick your diameter
Match the winch line to your winch, not to the stuck vehicle. Use the diameter and length your winch drum is spec'd for. Heavier winches call for larger-diameter line; when in doubt, match what the manufacturer lists for your winch.
| Diameter | Minimum Tensile Strength (MTS) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 1/4" | 8,000 lb | ATV / quad |
| 5/16" | 11,700 lb | SXS / UTV |
| 3/8" | 17,500 lb | Jeep / mid-size truck |
| 7/16" | 21,500 lb | Full-size / diesel truck |
| 1/2" | 30,600 lb | Heavy / competition |
Made in the USA from HMPE fiber. A Brummell-spliced eye is standard; prefer a soft shackle over a hook or thimble for the strongest, safest connection.
Safety: Inspect the line before every pull and retire it if you find cut, fuzzed, or glazed fiber. Start with a single-line pull and add mechanical advantage only as needed. Lay a recovery damper over the line, keep bystanders clear of the danger zone, and never exceed the rating of your winch or connection points.
