Recovery

Recovery gear is what gets you unstuck — and the order you reach for it matters more than most people realize. Start with a shovel and dropping your tire pressure; that alone solves the majority of it. Next come traction boards, which you wedge under the tires to give them something to bite. Only then a rope, and a winch last of all.

Everything here belongs to one of two families that must never be confused: kinetic gear stretches and is for snatching a vehicle free, while static gear does not stretch and is for winching, towing and anchoring. On the board side you will find MAXTRAX MKII, ARB Tred Pro and RotoPax RototraX.
