Two Handles, One Shovel

Don’t compromise your back or your gear. This modular system adapts to your specific recovery needs in seconds:

• Use the compact short-handle configuration to quickly dig out mud, sand and snow from around the tires.
• With shovel extension, the long-handle configuration allows you to get under the vehicle to clear build up from the diffs and axles without crawling under the rig. 

Seamless Mounting

Traditional shovels are awkward to store. This innovative mounting system includes two heavy-duty brackets that click into the handles of your MAXTRAX boards. Secured with high-tension Velcro straps and an included cable lock, your shovel stays locked to your boards whether you’re bouncing down a corrugated road or parked at the trailhead.

FAQ:

How do I mount the shovel to my MAXTRAX boards? 
We recommend first removing your MAXTRAX from your roof rack first, and then installing the shovel to the boards. 
Step 1: Align the shovel and extension handle into the two mounts.
Step 2: Place the mount and shovel onto the boards, making sure that the mounts line up with the board handles, and the hole in the shovel lines up with the mounting pin hole on the boards. 
Step 3: Press the mount into the board handles until it clicks in, then loop the velcro straps around the handles to fully secure the boards. 
Step 4: Re-install your boards back onto your roof rack or other mounting surface. 

Will this work with other brands of recovery boards? 
No. The mounting geometry is engineered specifically for the handles of MAXTRAX MKII and XTREME boards. It is not compatible with MAXTRAX Mini or Lite boards.

Will this work in snow?
Yes- this off-road capable shovel will work in sand, snow, mud, or any other grime you can get your rig stuck in. 

Will this work with my existing roof rack set up/MAXTRAX Mount?

Why the two-handle option shovel over a standard folding shovel?
Standard folding shovels often have weak points at the hinges that fail under the heavy use. The MAXTRAX shovel provides the strength of a full-sized shovel with a modular design that integrates into your existing recovery gear setup, saving critical storage space.

How do I protect the shovel from theft?
Each All-Terrain Recovery Shovel comes with a dedicated cable lock. When mounted to your boards, the cable threads through the board's mounting pin hole, keeping your shovel and boards secure while you're away from the vehicle. As an additional deterrent, we recommend using a bicycle style cable lock through the handle of the MAXTRAX themselves.
