1/4" Soft Shackle

Take the metal out of your recovery kit. A soft shackle is as strong as steel with real advantages: it is light, it floats, it will not chip paint, and it drops instead of flying if something ever lets go — the point that matters most when people are standing nearby.
This is the 1/4" soft shackle, our smallest. A single-piece HMPE loop for UTVs, ATVs and small trailers — recovery vehicles in the 700–1,399 lb range. It pairs naturally with the 1/2" Racer kinetic rope and 1/4" winch line.

Sizing up the range
Same rule as the rope: size to the vehicle doing the recovery, not the one that is stuck. If you run a bigger rig, step up to the matching soft shackle:

Soft, HD, or hard?
Standard soft shackle (this one) has a tubular polyester chafe sleeve and handles the ordinary case of attaching a rope to a rated point. The Heavy Duty soft shackle adds a urethane-dipped sleeve for rough or sharp recovery points — same core and strength. A steel Green Pin bow shackle is cheaper and shrugs off abrasion, but it is heavy and flies if it fails. Most people end up carrying both soft and steel.
Use it safely
Attach to rated recovery points only. Pass the loop through the point and capture the knot. Inspect before every use — cut or fuzzed fiber, a worn sleeve, or glazing from heat means retire it. A shackle is cheap relative to what it holds.
