MAXTRAX has quietly rolled out an update that solves a long-standing frustration for anyone mounting recovery boards: the introduction of Universal Mounting Pins.
Until now, mounting MAXTRAX meant choosing different pins depending on which board range you owned. MKII, XTREME, and LITE boards each required their own hardware, which made upgrades or changes more complicated than they needed to be. The new Universal Mounting Pins consolidate those options into a single, standardized system.

What’s Changed
The new Universal Mounting Pins replace six previous pin options with a modular design that works across the MAXTRAX range, now all you have to do is choose the appropriate M8 stud length on the mounting pin. Rather than locking you into a specific board and pin combination, the system adapts to the board you’re running.
For MKII and XTREME boards, the Universal Pins allow you to mount either two or four boards using the same hardware. If you upgrade from MKII to XTREME—or switch back—you won’t need to change pins.
MAXTRAX LITE boards are also supported, but with an important caveat. LITE boards are shorter than MKII and XTREME boards and are not intended to be mixed in the same stack. The Universal Pins support LITE boards as a dedicated setup rather than a mixed configuration.
Two Pin Lengths, Clear Use Cases
The Universal Mounting Pins are offered in two M8 threaded stud lengths:

17 mm
Best suited for roof racks, bed racks, and spare tire mounts. This is the correct length for use with Overland Kitted mounting brackets and most rack-based installations.

40 mm
Designed for custom or hard-mounted applications where additional thread engagement is required, such as mounting through camper walls, panels, or DIY solutions.
Choosing the correct length is simply a matter of how and where you plan to mount your boards.
Why This Matters
This update isn’t about adding features—it’s about removing friction. Fewer pin options means fewer decisions, fewer compatibility questions, and less wasted hardware when your setup changes.
If you’ve ever rebuilt a rack setup or upgraded boards and found yourself replacing perfectly good mounting hardware, this is the fix.
