MAXTRAX MKII Turquoise Recovery Boards

A pair of MAXTRAX MKII under the drive tires turns a stuck vehicle into a moving one — no winch, no anchor, no second rig. They are the original Australian-made traction board, molded from reinforced engineering-grade nylon, lifetime warranty, sold as a pair with Telltale leashes. This is the Turquoise set: bright and easy to pick out, never fluorescent.

Turquoise is the coastal color. It reads bright against pale sand and wet rock without the neon edge some high-visibility colors carry. The useful part is that nothing in a beach or desert landscape is that shade — no rock, no scrub, no driftwood — so a half-buried board is easy to spot again. It also suits builds where Signature Orange would clash. Honestly, it is a strong middle ground: more visible than the grays, less shouty than Orange or Pink.

Beach sand behaves differently than desert sand. Above the high-tide line it runs looser and deeper, so air down further than you think — further than you would in the desert. The firm wet sand below the line drives much easier, use it where you can, but know the tide and never park below it. Getting stuck on a rising tide is the one recovery where minutes truly matter, and the best argument for mounting boards where you can reach them rather than burying them under gear.

• Enough board for most people. The XTREME earns its price only if you are on boards hard and often — recovery work, driver training, racing. Most drivers never get there.
• Visible without a loud vehicle. Turquoise reads well in sand, snow and flat light, though Orange or Pink still catch the eye first at dusk. Worth the trade if you want to find your boards but not advertise them.
• Lifetime warranty, and we rarely see one come back. The failure we do see is bridging in very cold weather with a hard impact. MAXTRAX has always taken care of it.
• Rinse them after a beach trip. The nylon is UV stable and does not corrode — salt is your vehicle's problem, not the board's — but hose them down before the salt and sand dry into the traction lugs.
