MAXTRAX MKII are the recovery boards most people should buy, and Titanium Grey is the neutral one. Wedge a pair under your drive tires and you drive yourself out of sand, mud or snow — no winch, no second vehicle. The original design, made in Australia from reinforced engineering-grade nylon, sold as a pair, backed for life.

Titanium Grey is the lighter, warmer of the two grays MAXTRAX makes, and it does not fight your paint. Against a silver, white or gray vehicle it sits alongside the bodywork rather than vanishing into it the way Gunmetal does, and it reads as part of the build instead of a bolt-on. It does not announce itself and it does not date. Visibility is mid-pack, and worth saying plainly: easier to find in mud than Gunmetal, but it washes out against snow and against pale sand. Leash them.

MKII, LITE or Mini — pick by constraint, not by rank. The MKII is the full-size original in reinforced engineering-grade nylon, and it is enough for most people. The LITE costs less and is polyurethane rather than nylon — still durable, still a lifetime warranty, and the sensible pick when you want boards aboard without going full-size; 35" long, 4 lb each. The Mini is the same nylon as the MKII at 25" long, for a car or a smaller rig. Size and price, not quality.

  • The honest default. MKII is enough board for most drivers. Step up to the XTREME only if you use boards hard and often — recovery work, driver training, racing.
  • Middle of the range for visibility. Titanium Grey separates cleanly from dirt, rock and mud. Against snow or pale sand it is close to invisible, and the Telltale leashes are how you find it.
  • Lifetime warranty, and we rarely see one come back. The failure we do see is bridging in very cold weather with a hard impact. MAXTRAX has always taken care of it.
  • Gray suits a mixed stack. The MKII nests with XTREME, LITE and Mini, and Titanium Grey looks intentional beside a Black or Gunmetal Grey board rather than a mismatched spare.

Sorting out the hardware? A single Universal Mounting Pin now covers the whole MAXTRAX range, leaving two choices. Thread length: 17 mm for bracket mounting, which includes every bracket we sell, or 40 mm to pass through a camper panel. Capacity: a two-board pin for this pair, or a four-board pin if you run two sets.

More recovery gear and traction board mounts.

Trying to picture this color against your paint? A photo will not settle that. We were MAXTRAX's original U.S. distributor and have stocked the brand since it first reached the United States, and the full range sits in our Prescott, Arizona warehouse rather than a drop-shipper's — so we can hold a Titanium Grey board beside a Gunmetal one and tell you which way it goes.
