The Howl R1 Rally Mount is a bolt-on plate that locks the Howl R1 to the outside of your vehicle so the fire stops taking up a drawer. It fits the R1 only; the R3 is a different footprint and does not mount to it.
How it works
A 1/8-inch aluminum plate with a spring-loaded stainless plunger catch and an orange-anodized HOWL knob. Set the R1 on the plate, the plunger drops into place, and it stays put over washboard. Pull the knob and lift it off. It bolts to anything you can run 1/4-inch hardware through: roof rack slats, a rear ladder, a MOLLE panel, a bed rail, the side of a van box.

Before you order
Hardware is not in the box, because the right bolt length and backing depend entirely on what you're mounting to. Measure your rack slat or panel thickness first. And the obvious one, which Howl prints in the manual: never light the R1 while it's on the mount. Take it off, set it on the ground, then light it. If the campfire rides outside, the Overland Gear Guy R1 carry bag keeps road grime off it between stops.
