ARB Old Man Emu BP-51 Rear Shock Absorber — Extended Length (690) — Jeep Wrangler JK (2007–2018)
Choose options
The Old Man Emu BP-51 is ARB's flagship bypass suspension — a high-performance, externally adjustable damper built for hard-working 4x4s that carry weight and cover rough ground at speed. This is the extended-length (690) rear shock absorber for the Jeep Wrangler JK, sized for taller lifts that need more droop travel.
BP-51 uses a position-sensitive internal bypass: the damper stays supple through the middle of its travel for on-road comfort, then firms up near full compression and rebound to control big hits and heavy loads. A nitrogen-charged remote reservoir adds oil capacity and sheds heat to resist fade on long corrugated tracks, and both compression and rebound damping are externally adjustable so you can tune the ride to your load and terrain.

Trade-off: BP-51 is a premium, tunable damper — it costs more than a fixed OME Nitrocharger unit and rewards owners who take a few minutes to dial it in. The extended-length body suits taller lifts; confirm it matches your setup. Sold individually; most builds use a matched set.
