A snatch block doubles your winch's pulling force by redirecting the line back on itself. It also lets you pull around a corner instead of only straight ahead — which is what you need when the only anchor is off to one side.

Grease before first use
This is not optional. The block ships ungreased. Grease the sheave before you use it or you'll damage the bearing surface under the first serious load.
