Mountain Hatch's Tailgate Table for the 1984-1988 Toyota Pickup, sold as the Hilux outside North America, is a 1/2-inch HDPE panel cut for the fourth-generation compact Toyota tailgate. It is the panel for the solid-axle-era trucks that still get driven, not just shown.

Both versions are offered. Recessed or flat is the one decision to make. Recessed gives you two drink holders and a 1/4-inch-deep catch tray for a phone, knife or trimmings; flat gives you the whole panel as an uninterrupted cutting surface. The material is UV-stabilized and food-safe, and the panel is thick enough to double as tailgate protection when the truck is working. Every panel is cut on CNC machinery and then finished by hand in Riverside, California, and built to order, so plan on some production time before it leaves the shop.

What it is not: a rigid reinforcement for the tailgate, or a scratch-proof surface. Like any plastic cutting board it will show knife marks over time, and wet HDPE is slick, so keep an eye on a beer parked on a sloped campsite. The extra weight also means the factory damper lets the gate open a bit quicker than stock; Mountain Hatch says it will not slam, and that matches what owners report.
