Roadside Emergency Bag

Roadside trouble happens at the worst possible moment — in the dark, on a shoulder, with traffic going past at 70. That is the wrong time to be excavating a jumbled cargo area looking for the jumper cables. The Roadside Emergency Bag puts the whole kit in one place with the compartments sized so you know, without looking, which pocket the flares are in.

The main compartment is 8 x 9 x 18 in — enough for emergency lights, flares and jumper cables. A separate 3.5 x 7 x 18 in side compartment takes gloves, a first-aid kit and tools so they are not buried under cable. An exterior zippered slip pocket at 7 x 18 in is for the things you want before you open the bag at all: reflective triangles, a tire pressure gauge. Two 8 x 9 in side slip pockets take a water bottle, sunglasses or snacks. Choose between two reflective handle tag options — three-stripe lime or three-stripe orange — because a black bag on a black shoulder at night is a bag nobody can see. A velcro loop patch takes a custom ID tag.
