A 20A in-vehicle charger built for modern vehicles with smart, variable-voltage alternators.
The REDARC BCDC1220-IGN is a 12V, 20A DC-DC charger that keeps an auxiliary or house battery topped up while you drive. It is the ignition-controlled version of the BCDC1220, meaning it uses a switched ignition signal to start charging rather than waiting for a fixed alternator voltage. That makes it the right pick for Euro 5/6 and other temperature-compensated charging systems where a standard voltage-triggered charger can stay asleep.
- Ignition control terminal reliably wakes the charger on smart-alternator vehicles
- Multi-stage profile with battery-type selection for AGM, gel, flooded and lithium setups
- Fully isolated output that protects the auxiliary bank and the vehicle start battery
Trade-off to know: the IGN variant is wired to your ignition and does not include an onboard solar input, so if you want dual solar-and-alternator charging, look at the standard solar-ready BCDC models on our DC-DC chargers page or browse all REDARC gear.
