MAXTRAX MKII Pink Recovery Boards

MAXTRAX MKII are the recovery boards most people should buy. Slide a pair under your drive tires and you get yourself out of sand, mud or snow without a winch or a second vehicle. Pink is the easiest board in the range to find again. Almost nothing in the natural landscape is pink — not sand, mud, snow or dry brush — so no ground swallows it the way tan vanishes in sand or black vanishes in shadow. Most order it to be bold and end up with a functional advantage. The trade-off is real: it is the least subtle option on a rack by a distance. If you would rather nobody noticed your recovery gear, buy Black or Gunmetal Grey.

Why visibility is worth more than it sounds. A board you have just driven over is behind you, partly buried, often in failing light, and you are tired. What decides whether you find it is contrast against the surface you are stuck in — sand, dark mud and snow each defeat a different color. Bright works the other direction too: on a narrow shelf road it keeps you and your gear visible to oncoming traffic. Whatever color you buy, clip the Telltale leash on before the board goes under a tire.

• The honest default. MKII is enough for most drivers. Step up to the XTREME only if you use boards hard and often — recovery work, driver training, racing.
• Pink is not for every rig, and that is fine. It stands out on the trail and in the parking lot. If you want the build to read low-key, buy Black.
• Lifetime warranty, and we rarely see one come back. The failure we do see is bridging in very cold weather with a hard impact. MAXTRAX has always taken care of it.
• Six built-in handles and a shovel on each end. You can carry a board one-handed, and the tapered end clears sand or snow from the tire before it becomes the ramp.
