Bauer Bag - Overland Duffel

A bag this size ends up living in a footwell, a drawer or the bottom of a roof box, which means it gets grabbed one-handed, set down in the dirt and repacked in the dark. The Bauer Bag is a straightforward 13.5 x 9 x 5 in hauler for exactly that job: tools, first aid, camera bodies, cords, recovery odds and ends, or whatever category of kit you want to stop migrating around the vehicle.

It is hand-sewn from heavy-duty 1000D Cordura. The heavy-duty zipper runs the length of the top instead of a narrow mouth, so you reach the whole interior rather than fishing through a hole. Inside, one zippered pocket holds what you do not want sliding out when the bag tips, and three slip pockets take the small items that otherwise sink to the bottom. Two carry handles cover short moves; the removable, adjustable padded shoulder strap covers long ones and comes off entirely when the bag is stowed and a loose strap is just something to snag. A velcro loop panel on the outside takes an ID tag, which is what turns a shelf of identical bags back into a system.
