Old Man Emu built the BP-51 to bring genuine race-shock control to a touring 4x4 you still have to drive to work. This is the front bypass damper for the Nissan Patrol GU — a big-bore, position-sensitive shock with a remote reservoir that stays composed loaded up and hammering corrugations, yet settles to a comfortable ride around town.
Why it stands out
The bypass design changes damping depending on where the shock sits in its stroke, so you get supple compliance mid-stroke and firm end-zone control before you run out of travel. Rebound and compression are both adjustable on the car, so you can tune for a loaded touring rig or an empty daily.
