Mountain Hatch's Tailgate Table for the 1999-2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty is a 1/2-inch food-grade HDPE panel for the long-running first- through third-generation Super Duty tailgate. It replaces the factory plastic with a flat, food-safe counter that has drink holders and a 1/4-inch-deep utility tray molded in.
Remove the factory screws and panel, drop the Mountain Hatch into place and reinstall; no drilling is involved. On a working truck the panel earns its keep as a tailgate protector as much as a kitchen counter. Each panel is made to order in Riverside, California: the outline is machine-cut, then the edges and pockets are finished by hand, so allow production time.
Set expectations before you buy. The surface is textured HDPE, which means it will take knife marks like a kitchen board and is slick when wet. The panel is not structural, so it protects the tailgate skin without reinforcing it. And the added weight lets the factory damper open the gate a touch faster than stock, though, as Mountain Hatch notes, it will not slam open.
