The Mountain Hatch Tailgate Table for the 2017-2022 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty is a 1/2-inch food-grade HDPE panel cut for the aluminum-body fourth-gen Super Duty tailgate. It flattens the ribbed factory insert into a counter with two drink holders and a recessed utility tray.
Installation is factory screws out, OEM panel off, Mountain Hatch in. The UV-stabilized surface is food-safe, easy to clean and tough enough to take a generator or a load of gear. These are built to order in Riverside, California, not pulled off a shelf. The cut is done by machine and the finishing by hand, so expect a production lead before it is ready.
A few honest notes before you order. HDPE is the same material as a kitchen cutting board, so it will pick up knife marks if you press hard and it gets slick when wet, which matters if the truck is parked on a slope. It is a work surface rather than armor, so it will not stiffen the tailgate. And because the panel adds weight to the gate, Mountain Hatch notes that the factory tailgate damper will let it open a little faster than stock, though it will not slam.
