The Mountain Hatch Tailgate Table for the 1998-2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series and Lexus LX 470 swaps the carpeted factory tailgate surface for a flat, 1/2-inch food-grade HDPE panel. It turns the 100's drop-down gate into a camp counter you can cut on, cook on and hose off.
Both versions are offered. The two versions differ only on top. The recessed-pocket panel has a pair of drink holders and a 1/4-inch-deep utility tray molded in; the original flat panel is one clean slab with nothing to work around. The material is UV-stabilized and the panel protects the tailgate skin when fridges and recovery gear get dragged across it. New fasteners are available with the panel. These are built to order in Riverside, California, not pulled off a shelf. The cut is done by machine and the finishing by hand, so expect a production lead before it is ready.
A few honest notes before you order. HDPE is the same material as a kitchen cutting board, so it will pick up knife marks if you press hard and it gets slick when wet, which matters if the truck is parked on a slope. It is a work surface rather than armor, so it will not stiffen the tailgate. And because the panel adds weight to the gate, Mountain Hatch notes that the factory tailgate damper will let it open a little faster than stock, though it will not slam.
