The Overland Kitted Spare Tire MAXTRAX® Mounting System was built with one goal in mind: to offer the cleanest, most stable way to carry MAXTRAX® recovery boards on your vehicle’s spare tire—without compromising rear visibility, camera placement, or accessibility.

If you drive a vehicle like the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco with a center-mounted backup camera, you’ve likely found that traditional spare tire mounts simply don’t work. This system solves that. It mounts securely to the tire itself—using a heavy-duty, USA-made Mac’s Custom Tie Downs® strap—and positions your boards to the side, keeping the center of the wheel clear. Whether you’re running a factory spare or aftermarket setup, the adjustable mounting plate offers a wide range of positioning—up, down, forward, or back—so you can dial in the perfect fit.

We also designed it to eliminate one of our biggest frustrations with mounting MAXTRAX to a rear spare tire: flimsy, strap-only recovery board mounts. With our system, the strap secures the bracket to the tire, but the MAXTRAX® themselves are connected to the mounting plate with genuine MAXTRAX® mounting pins. This makes it easy to remove and reattach the boards—ideal for snow wheeling, soft sand, or repeated recovery situations where speed matters.
