Sterling Power APD12 – 12V Alternator Protection Device
Choose options
The Sterling Power APD12 protects your alternator from the damaging voltage spikes (load dump) that occur when a battery or a battery-to-battery charger is suddenly disconnected while the alternator is under load. It clamps those transients before they can reach your alternator's diodes and regulator — cheap insurance for an expensive component in any dual-battery or DC-DC install.

Key Features
- Carries no main current itself — only light-gauge wiring is needed to install
- No back-feed occurs through the device
- Works with any alternator or battery-splitting device suitable for 12V or 24V systems
Why It Matters
Alternators hate having their load pulled away suddenly. If a battery isolator opens or a charger drops offline mid-charge, the resulting spike can destroy diodes and regulators. The APD12 gives that energy somewhere safe to go, protecting the alternator across the life of your build.
