The mesh does a second job beyond visibility: it drains and it breathes. A damp rag, a wet head torch or a handful of trail dust does not sit in a sealed fabric box; water and grit fall out through the mesh instead of collecting in the bottom corner.

What to know before you buy

Mesh is the trade-off: it shows you what is inside, and it shows everyone else too. If you want the contents private or fully shielded from dust, take a solid-front pocket from the same line instead. Velcro backing needs a loop-velcro surface — it will not grip a bare seat back or MOLLE webbing.
