The BB1225 is Sterling Power's entry point into the Saturn Series — a 12V/12V DC-DC charger running at 25A and 340W, designed for smaller builds where a full 40A or 70A unit is more than the system needs. Camper conversions, small van builds, lightweight overland rigs, and auxiliary battery setups on motorcycles, ATVs, or boats all fall squarely in its wheelhouse. The Saturn platform in a compact package — same intelligence, same protection, right-sized output.

Like every Saturn Series charger, the BB1225 is fully compatible with Euro 5/6+ smart alternators. It reads alternator output correctly rather than demanding a fixed voltage, which means no alternator faults, no limp mode triggers, and no warranty complications on modern vehicles. Vibration sensing mode starts the charger automatically when the vehicle moves, eliminating the need for an ignition wire run — though a traditional ignition feed is still available if preferred.

The BB1225 runs a proper 4-stage charge algorithm (bulk, absorption, float, equalization for lead-acid) across six preset battery profiles: gel, AGM, calcium, open lead-acid, and two lithium profiles including LiFePO4. A temperature sensor is included for voltage compensation on lead-acid and cold-weather lithium protection — the charger cuts off below 0°C to prevent lithium cell damage. A lithium BMS wake-up function rouses batteries that have gone into protective shutdown from over-discharge.

Bidirectional Reverse Charging: When your house bank climbs above 13.2V (13.5V on lithium profiles), the BB1225 automatically feeds approximately half current (~12A) back to the starter battery to maintain it at 13.4V float. Solar keeping the house bank topped off while the rig sits? Your starter stays healthy too. If the starter drops critically low, Jump Start Assist forces a 20-minute reverse charge cycle to get the engine running again.

Output is adjustable to 100%, 85%, or 65% via the optional BBR remote — useful for backing off alternator draw when solar is contributing, or when pairing units for redundancy.
