A recovery point has one job: give the rope or shackle something rated to pull against. A trailer hitch is not that — a tow ball will snap and a bare receiver tube deforms. This drops into your 2" receiver and turns it into a proper, rated attachment point.
It is the only 2" hitch recovery point built to take a 7/8" hard shackle pin (1" pin), not just the usual 3/4". Chamfered edges let a soft shackle pass straight through it too, so you can drop the metal out of your rigging entirely when you want to.

Match it to the recovery vehicle
Like every part of a recovery system, this gets sized to the vehicle doing the pulling, not the one that is stuck. The 66,400 lb hitch point and a 7/8" shackle are built to stay stronger than the rope in the middle, so the rope stays the working part of the system. Pair it with a shackle and rope rated for your rig's weight.
The hitch point does not include a receiver pin — use a quality rated pin sized for your 2" receiver.
Use it safely
Pull in line with the receiver. Do not side-load it — an angled pull can damage the shackle or receiver, or tip the vehicle. Use only a quality hitch pin; a cheap pin can shear before the recovery point does. Never exceed the rated load, keep a dampener over the line, and keep bystanders well clear.
