Designed For Low Garages and Quick Access
When you remove your MAXTRAX, you’re still left with the mounting pins sticking up in the air, and if you’re trying to fit into a parking garage, that’s a problem. You shouldn’t have to unbolt your setup every time. The Overland Kitted Stealth Folding MAXTRAX Mount solves a real issue we’ve dealt with for years: exposed mounting pins that limit your clearance, even when the boards are off.
Pins Fold Flat in Seconds
This bracket folds the pins flat in seconds—no tools, no hassle—so you can clear garages, carports, or low-hanging trail entrances without sacrificing roof rack functionality. Whether you’re storing your boards at home, reducing wind noise on the highway, or keeping UV damage on your gear to a minimum, this bracket delivers a sleek, no-compromise solution.
The Stealth Folding MAXTRAX Roof Rack Mount can also be configured with a 1.25-inch rise to fit a wider variety of roof racks and mounting scenarios.
Roof Rack Compatibility:
The Stealth mount will fit a wide variety of roof racks, and we have hardware options for Leitner, Front Runner, Prinsu and Rhino Rack.

Why We Love This:
We designed this Stealth Folding Mount so we could finally fit our vehicle in the airport parking garage without unbolting our MAXTRAX mounting brackets. The bonus? Less wind noise, better fuel economy, and no long-term UV fade on our MAXTRAX. It’s simple, clean, and folds flat without tools—just remove your recovery boards, flip the pins down and go.
Features & Benefits:
-
Modular Folding Design – Four configurations in one bracket:
- Stealth w/ Pins Facing Inward
- Stealth w/ Pins Facing Outward
- Raised w/ Pins Facing Inward
- Raised w/ Pins Facing Outward
- Folds Flat, No Tools Needed – Pressed steel pins rotate smoothly and stop at set angles to avoid over-rotation or rattling.
- Stealth Mode - Flush Mounting – Regain full use of your roof rack when your MAXTRAX aren’t mounted. In the low-profile (flush) position, our bracket folds the mounting pins below the plane of your roof rack, making it easy to slide gear, rooftop bags, or other equipment across the surface (Note: Requires 12” of clearance between the adjacent roof rack crossbars outside your mounting point, crossbars must be less than 7” wide.)
- Raised Mounting Option – The bracket can be configured to provide 1.25 inches of rise-just enough to allow the MAXTRAX Mounting Pins to rotate freely. This gives you the clearance needed to mount MAXTRAX in either a north-south or east-west orientation on most roof racks.
- Adjustable Folding Direction – Pins can fold inward or outward by reversing the L-bracket and hardware. You can even mix directions to suit your rack layout.
- Engineered and Built in Prescott, Arizona – Built from stainless steel and designed for real-world use with smart tolerances and pressed steel pins for consistent, tool-free folding.
- Designed for Genuine MAXTRAX Mounting Pins

FAQ
How much height does this add?
In Stealth Mode, with the boards removed less that 1/4"
In Raised Mode, 1.25"
Will this work with my rack?
If you have an extrusion style rack- Most likely, this includes racks like Westcott, Sherpa, Front Runner, Prinsu, Rhino Rack, Leitner, ARB etc. You may need to reach out to your rack manufacturer for mounting hardware. If you have questions, please reach out to us
How many MAXTRAX can I mount?
The Stealth Folding Mount uses the new Universal MAXTRAX Pin Set which will fit 1 or two sets of MAXTRAX MKII, Xtreme, Lite or Mini (2 or 4 boards)
Does the folding design help with wind noise?
Absolutely. One of the biggest causes of roof rack "whistle" is air passing over exposed mounting pins. By folding the pins flat when your boards aren't in use, you significantly reduce drag and wind noise at highway speeds. This makes these a great option for daily drivers.
Are these mounts lockable to prevent theft?
Yes- the MAXTRAX Mounting Pins can accommodate a TSA style padlock to prevent theft. Traction boards can also be quickly removed and stored inside the vehicle if theft is a concern.
What material are the brackets made from?
To ensure they never rust in harsh off-road environments, we build these from USA sourced 304 Stainless Steel
We also have bundles available to get a set of MAXTRAX with your Stealth Mount at a discount.
