The Sterling Power AB24200 is the 24V flagship of Sterling's Alternator to Battery (AB) series — a marine-grade, high-output charger that converts your 24V alternator's raw output into a full 4-stage charge profile for your house or domestic battery bank. At 200A input capacity, it's the most powerful single-unit 24V AB charger Sterling makes, designed for large marine vessels, commercial vehicles, and any 24V system where fast, complete battery charging between stops is critical.

The AB series works by placing a controlled load on the alternator, pulling its voltage down to a high-current, low-voltage state, then amplifying that power into a proper bulk, absorption, float, and equalization charge cycle at the output. The result is house bank charging up to five times faster than a standard alternator connection, with charge voltages that fully condition battery plates — something a conventional alternator running at constant voltage can never achieve. No alternator modification is required and no ECU interference occurs during installation.

The AB24200 includes an internal split charge system that maintains a maintenance charge on the starter battery while dedicating full 4-stage charging to the house bank. It supports AGM, gel, flooded lead acid, and LiFePO4 chemistries, with built-in alternator and battery temperature sensing to protect the system under sustained high-current operation.

Important compatibility note: The AB series is not recommended for modern European or Japanese vehicles equipped with Euro 5/6+ regenerative braking or integrated engine management systems. For those applications, Sterling's Battery to Battery (BB) Saturn series is the correct choice. The AB24200 is well suited to traditional marine engines, commercial vehicles, and older diesel and gasoline powerplants with conventional 24V alternator systems.
