From the start of this build, I knew I would need a dual battery system. For this, I selected a Genesis Dual Battery kit with Dual Odyssey Group 34 PC1500's. This would provide more than enough power to handle the auxiliary lights, inverter and a fridge. Thanks to Genesis' YouTube video, installation went smoothly.

Unfortunately, they often require a substantial financial investment. Luckily, you can experience the joys of backcountry camping at a fraction of the cost, and without mortgaging your house. Renting is also a great way to see if a particular platform is a good fit before shelling out fistfuls of cash. We have compiled a list of companies that rent off-road vehicles and campers -with a few light-duty honorable mentions. Not sure where to take your rental? Most of the companies in this list will provide you with a directory of adventure routes to ensure that you have the best experience possible.  

Many of us dream of overlanding in far off places. Unfortunately, the constraints of home and work often keep this dream at arms length. The time needed to drive a rig to South America is likely the biggest barrier to taking the plunge. One solution would be to fly and drive, but finding a trustworthy rental car company to provide a reliable vehicle to drive off into the sunset can be daunting.

Jeep has teased about bringing back the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer for years. It’s becoming a bit of a white whale for some Jeep enthusiasts. There is nothing official from Jeep, but we should see something (a concept if not an actual production) by 2020. The FCA group does amazing vehicle concepts, just look at everything from the Easter Jeep Safari from the last ten years. My favorite is the Forward Control Concept.

American Buffalo is actually a misnomer. The bison that used to roam the Central Plains are not closely related to the Buffalo (Cape & Water) of Africa and Asia. They are in the same family of hoofed mammals, but not close enough to be called buffalo. Just like how the West Indies are in the Caribbean and no where near India. Same shit, different time period.

If you’re of a certain age, you remember Looney Tunes. Most of us do. Something new had to happen in those cartoons every 7 minutes to keep kids’ attention. Whether it was the anvil falling on the coyote or the rifle exploding in the nimrod’s face, something had to change.

Dan Grec is no stranger to adventure. In 2009, he drove a stock Jeep Wrangler TJ 50,000 miles from Calgary to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. From there, he headed south and didn't stop until reaching Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina nearly two years later. Today, Dan is working his way around the entire African continent. This time, he's expecting to cover over 80,000 miles in two years.
