Old worn out sleeping bags are some of the most uncomfortable things on the planet. I know this because I’ve used the same sleeping bag for over ten years. That’s why I was extremely excited when SJK sent me their new Wheeler Lake sleeping bag to test out. It’s not a radical new product, but it does come with some great perks, especially if you are on the tall side.

Westfalia. You immediately pictured some sort of Volkswagen bus with tie dye colors and a dude resembling John Lennon, didn’t you. It’s ok, we all do. That stereotype has long been attached to the VW bus and the Westfalia campers. Heck, some people still consider them to be the quintessential mode of transport for the free spirited van lifer.

Unlike the Ursa Minor J30 which only replaces the factory Jeep top, the GaZell is a different animal altogether. GaZell has designed a complete camper around the JK platform. Much of this is achieved by adding 38 cm to the rear of the Jeep. This creates the space necessary for two bench seats, a table, and a number of high quality cabinets. The kit is completely a bolt on affair with no cutting or drilling required. 

From the start of this build, I knew I would need a dual battery system. For this, I selected a Genesis Dual Battery kit with Dual Odyssey Group 34 PC1500's. This would provide more than enough power to handle the auxiliary lights, inverter and a fridge. Thanks to Genesis' YouTube video, installation went smoothly.

Jeep has teased about bringing back the Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer for years. It’s becoming a bit of a white whale for some Jeep enthusiasts. There is nothing official from Jeep, but we should see something (a concept if not an actual production) by 2020. The FCA group does amazing vehicle concepts, just look at everything from the Easter Jeep Safari from the last ten years. My favorite is the Forward Control Concept.

Rocking chairs are not only comfortable, they are also fun to use. Adapting one to be used outdoors is a weird and wonderful exercise, and I’m glad that the creative minds at GCI went through with it. They are calling it the Firepit Rocker, which is exactly what I intend to use it for. For over a decade, I have been using a myriad of what I call the umbrella chair, due to how it collapses into a long skinny bag.

With the growing popularity of monthly subscription boxes, it was only a matter of time before someone realized the gaping hole in the off road market. That's where Caleb Austin of Get Lost saw the opportunity to bring quality gear to this community. 

It’s currently June and in Wyoming, that means the snow has finally stopped falling and it’s time to head for the mountains. Luckily for me, it’s only a thirty minute drive to the Wind River range, but I have been meaning to visit Flaming Gorge since passing it on the way to Moab last year.

My wife and I recently recently traded the warm humid climate of the Southern United States for the dry, high elevation of Wyoming. This meant that some of our gear would have to be replaced to account for differences in climate. Of course, we tried to use our old gear, but not all of it made the transition well. Having spent a fair amount of nights in an inappropriately insulated sleeping bag, I set out to do some research before replacing it with something more comfortable.
