The Melvill & Moon Odyssey Safari Bar, handcrafted by skilled artisans at our Port Elizabeth location, offers a stylish and convenient solution for transporting drinks on your adventures. With room for six bottles and four glasses, you can also choose to use all ten storage slots to transport your cherished bottles.

Constructed from African Mahogany and featuring solid brass hinges and hardware, the Odyssey Bar is durable enough for field use, but equally comfortable at home. For outdoor excursions, we suggest our Functional Canvas Cover to safeguard the woodwork from abrasions. 

Product History:

Kingsley Holgate, a cherished friend with whom we've had the pleasure of sponsoring numerous journeys across Africa and beyond, embarked on his first expedition, the Odyssey from Cape to Cairo. During this adventure, there arose a practical need for a simple, fold-out bar capable of holding ten bottles and assorted glasses. Interestingly, the bar has always lacked glassware, yet has been well-stocked with various alcoholic beverages, with Captain Morgan occupying a prominent position.

The original bar has accompanied Kingsley on extensive travels throughout Africa, from north to south, east to west, and along the outer rim of the continent. It has ventured to discover the very heart of Africa, tracing the Tropic of Capricorn and making the arduous journey from Cape Town to Kathmandu.

Despite the rigors of its journeys, the original Odyssey bar remains steadfast in its duty, continuing to serve on each expedition. Thus, it was only natural for us to offer replicas crafted from mahogany and walnut. While our Odyssey is rugged enough for the field, it's equally at home gracing the interiors of houses, adding a touch of sophistication as a fine piece of furniture.
