A Background on American Expedition Vehicles—The World's Best 4WD Aftermarket Company

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is a company based in Missoula, Montana that specialized in creating high-quality, durable vehicles for off-road adventures. Founded by Dave Harriton in 1997, AEV has a long history of producing innovative modifications and conversions for popular off-road vehicles, starting with the Jeep Wrangler TJ.

One of the key factors that sets AEV apart is their commitment to using OE-level engineering, materials, and coatings in all of their products. This attention to detail adds to the durability and longevity of AEV's vehicles, and is a major reason why so many companies have partnered with AEV to produce special edition vehicles and custom one-off builds.

In the early days of the company, AEV focused on modifying Jeep Wrangler TJs with stretched wheelbases and Brute truck conversions. One of the most popular modifications offered by AEV was the highline fender kit, which allowed for the use of larger tires and improved suspension articulation. In 2002, AEV acquired nth degree suspensions, a company that specialized in creating high-performance suspension systems for off-road vehicles.

As the Jeep Wrangler JK model was introduced, AEV expanded its focus to include this newer platform. AEV released the Brute Double Cab conversion for the JK model, which allowed for the addition of rear seats and increased storage space in the back of the vehicle. In addition, AEV offered V8 conversions for the JK model, which provided a significant increase in power and performance.

When the Jeep Wrangler JL model was introduced, AEV developed a new range of products and modifications specifically for this platform. This included suspension systems, wheels and tires, and exterior modifications designed to improve the vehicle's off-road capabilities.

In addition to their work on the Jeep Wrangler platform, AEV has also developed the Prospector and Prospector XL models. These vehicles are based on the Ram HD platform and feature a range of modifications designed to improve performance and capability for off-road adventures. Some of the key features developed by AEV for the Prospector models include suspension systems, wheels and tires, and exterior modifications such as fender flares and bumpers.

AEV has also entered into a partnership with GMC to produce the Bison edition Colorado, a special version of the Colorado featuring AEV modifications. In addition, AEV has developed a range of parts and modifications for the GMC 1500 pickup.

In addition to their production vehicles, AEV has also created a number of custom one-off vehicles, including the Outpost II concept. These unique vehicles have garnered attention from major magazines such as Four Wheeler and Off-Road, with the Outpost II concept being described as "one of the most impressive off-road campers we've seen" by Four Wheeler.

Overall, AEV has a long history of producing high-quality, off-road capable vehicles, and continues to innovate and expand its offerings. With a focus on durability and performance, AEV has established itself as a leader in the industry, and has exciting plans for the future.
